A Metal Jukebox Pt. 10: Sepultura? Ah No, Cavalera Conspiracy!

Oh, it’s been quite some time I haven’t posted the Metal Jukebox series. The last post was about Luca Turilli and his new journey with LT’s Rhapsody. Now, I want to share something about Cavalera Conspiracy. For metal heads, this Cavalera name might sound familiar to your ears. Yes, they are from Sepultura’s Cavalera brothers – Max and Igor. Max Cavalera was the founder, songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist of this Sepultura band while Igor, his younger brother was the drummer. Together with Andreas Kisser and Paulo Jr., Sepultura was quite phenomenal in the late 1990s, along with Metallica, maybe Guns n’ Roses, and if following their stream, Obituary, Kreator, etc. Some songs, such as Arise, Beneath the Remains, Troops of Doom, Refuse/Resist, etc. were quite famous to the fans. You can watch the original clip of Arise below.

However, due to internal conflict, Max left the band and formed Soulfly. While working on Soulfly, he also has a side-project with Nailbomb and Cavalera Conspiracy. The last is the reunion formation with his younger brother, Igor, and I was fortunate to have a chance to see them live.

After watching them, what I can say is “The show was satisfying, yet smoking hot! Every time there’s a fast song, everyone turned the front stage into a crazy mosh pit area I should avoid :). However, it’s a great feeling to watch them playing some old Sepultura songs, like Arise, Refuse/Resist, Inner Self, Dead Embryonic Cells, War for Territory, Roots Bloody Roots, and Troops of Doom. Seeing Max and Igor (with Marc and Johny) is like seeing Sepultura. Cavalera Conspiracy is likely more Sepultura than today’s Sepultura.”

Here are some photos from their show last time.
