This is about a band I used to playing with several years ago. It’s called “Gothic Princess”, simply because most of the band members like the gothic rock/metal type of music (that time). I happened to be a supervisor of the music organization unit in the University I work in Bali, Indonesia several years ago before pursuing my study. That time, while assisting those who have hobbies in music, I sometimes joined them playing. Since I can (only) play the drum :), I would play as the drummer or took the vocal duty occasionally with the students-musicians. It was nothing special, just as a hobby.
Once a while, the band performed in events around the campus. For certain, the quality is still far from the original perfection. Again, it’s just for fun. Here, I just want to show three recorded songs we performed earlier. There are still some other songs, but I haven’t had them converted, yet. Next time, probably. Thank you for reading.
Crimson Tide / Deep Blue Sea
This song was performed by Nightwish in “From Wishes to Eternity” concert in 2000. It was an instrumental medley added by the band in the middle of the performance.
Here is our performance.
The original performance is in the embedded video below.
Nightwish – Crimson Tide, Deep Blue Sea
The melodies of the medley were taken from several sources, including Hans Zimmer’s music in the 1995 film “Crimson Tide.” For more information, please visit this link.
Mother Earth
“Mother Earth” is a famous song by the Dutch gothic band Within Temptation. This song was taken from the same title of the album, Mother Earth, produced in 2000.
Here is our performance.
Quote:
With every breath
And all the choices that we make
We are only passing through on her way
Complete lyrics
Within Temptation’s performance (with orchestra) is embedded below.
Within Temptation and Metropole Orchestra – Mother Earth
The concert was recorded live at The Ahoy, Rotterdam, The Netherlands on February 7, 2008. For more information about the concert, please click here.
Come Cover Me
This is the third track song by Nightwish in their third album of “Wishmaster” produced in 2000. For more information about the album, please click here.
Here is our performance.
Quote:
For me
For you
Time devours passion’s beauty
With me
With you
In war for the love of you
(Tonight any dream will do)
Complete lyrics

Nightwish – Come Cover Me
I believe you all could hear several flaws in the performance as the band was still far from excellence. Yes, it’s true. But, as I said earlier, it’s just a hobby during spare time. Therefore, I understand that this is far from perfect compared to the original. That’s why learning is a process, isn’t it? I do hope you all could enjoy this. Thank you very much and have a nice weekend, everyone 🙂
